A Big Thanks

Posted by Support Antifa! on 16 Mar 2008 at 13:31

…to our comrades in Plymouth (UK), who’ve donated over £160 to us from recent benefit gigs.

We really appreciate the time and effort they’ve put in to this, and for showing such generous solidarity with our cause.

Cheers.

Our comrades in Eastern Europe have now raised enough funds to ensure legal support and representation in their upcoming court case.

We would like to thank all of our supporters who spread the word, purchased our merchandise, donated and organised benefit events for us. It’s greatly appreciated.

Please continue to do whatever you can to help us help those who take a stand.

Belarus Antifa Need Urgent Support

Posted by Support Antifa! on 20 Jan 2008 at 14:26

We have received news that seven comrades in Minsk, Belarus, are facing serious charges following an antifa gig in the city. As people were leaving the concert, neo-nazis from Russia and Belarus Combat 18 / Blood & Honour launched an assault on them using glass bottles and other weapons. However, the antifa supporters were able to quickly group and successfully defend themselves. Several fascists ended up in hospital as they were forced to flee by the united anti-fascists.

The hospitalised fascists then claimed that they had been the victims of an assault and gave the names of seven known anti-fascists, who they said were responsible, to police.

The seven were arrested and have been charged with offences that carry between 3 and 10 years in prison. But the ‘evidence’ against them is weak. With the aid of a good lawyer, we have every confidence that the anti-fascists will be able to defeat the false allegations made against them. Without one, they could well end up incarcerated.

The biggest problem they face in winning is financial. A consultation with a lawyer costs $25 and a day in court is $150. The average monthly wage in Belarus is a little over $200 a month, and our friends earn a lot less than this.

We have therefore offered to co-ordinate a fund-raising campaign. We are asking all antifa supporters to donate to the support fund through our PayPal account (). We will then ensure that the money goes directly to our anti-fascist friends in Belarus. So far, we have either received or been promised just over $500, but we still need more. Every pound, euro or dollar you can afford to donate brings us one step closer to keeping our friends free.

If you are unable to donate yourself, you can still help us by spreading the word as widely as possible and encouraging others to give if they can. You could also try organising a benefit event such as a gig or social evening to help raise funds and awareness. Whatever you can do to help will be greatly appreciated.

We have been able to make a donation of €50 to the Antifa Network, our hosting service. They provide free hosting for groups from outside of the wealthier Western countries, and only charge a small fee for groups from within them (like us). We’re happy to be able to make this small additional contribution to them and hope that it assists them with their excellent work. If you can afford it, we’d encourage you to make a donation too - no matter how small it is, it will be put to the best use possible.

MAD logoM.A.D. (Mutual Assured Destruction) have very kindly donated a box of their EP and full-length CDs to us. The EP is a 6 track CD-R, while the full-length CD comes in a jewel case with booklet and features 14 tracks recorded by the current line-up (including a previously unreleased song). The band have performed with the likes of Icons Of Filth, Witchhunt and Fleas And Lice, and play fast, political anarcho-punk.

With the approval of the band, we’re giving the CDs away free if you donate the following minimum amounts:

£3 - the demo CD-R
£5 - the full-length CD
£7.50 - both discs

We’ll cover the postage from our own pockets, so all donations will go straight to antifa groups and individuals.
